31 years of IP Multicast

Last month, at Streaming Tech Sweden, Dom Robinson, Co-Founder and Director at www.id3as.com, gave the first of two presentations this autumn (the other at StreamingMedia West - video coming soon...) focussing on 31 years of IP Multicast evolution.
The presentation takes a whirlwind tour through the fundamentals of IP Multicast, and looks in some depth at why, since it emerged, IP Multicast initially faced technical challenges, and then faced commercial challenges as its very efficiency compromised competing business models based on less efficient network utilisations. Finally there is a quick look at some of the recently emerging layer 2 technologies that are discovering the potential of scaling live and pre-positioned content delivery at scale.
